Well, here's something to keep an eye on this weekend: Rich Rodriguez, the first-year coach at Arizona, is facing Toledo. Kickoff is at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
You don't think this is a big deal? Well, back in 2008, during the first year of Rodriguez's tenure at Michigan, the Wolverines were upset at home by the Rockets, 13-10.
It's arguably -- no, make that definitely -- Rodriguez's worst loss at Michigan. It wasn't the final nail in the coffin, so to speak (that was probably the Ohio State loss in 2011 -- his last regular-season game coaching the Wolverines) but it was the biggest upset and most embarrassing loss he was a part of at Michigan.
That 2008 Toledo team finished 3-9 (2-6 in the MAC, worst in the conference) and coach Tom Amstutz stepped down at the end of the season. The Rockets also lost to Arizona that year, 41-16. Certainly not a powerhouse team those Wolverines lost to, I'd say.
Anyway, that brings us to this Saturday: Rodriguez's first game since being fired from Michigan after the 2011 season. Surprisingly, most of the Arizona media coverage leading into this game hasn't mentioned much about the 2008 Rodriguez-Toledo matchup.
He was asked about Toledo being a "sneaky" opponent:
"They're a very dangerous team and they're going to come with a lot of confidence," Rodriguez told reporters earlier this week. "We have got to play well."
Of course, Arizona isn't Michigan, and there are two totally new rosters (and a new Toledo coach) at play here ... but still. Pay attention to this one.
