Pro-Texas A&M billboard in Gaineville removed

Texas A&M is set to host Florida in its first SEC game. A billboard appeared in Gainesville trumpeting the Aggies and taking a few shots at the rest of their new conference.

It read:

Howdy Gainesville:
You've been annexed by Aggie Nation
The Best Academics & Cleanest Program in the SEC. WHOOP!
Real Football. Real Tradition.

Texas A&M spokesperson Jason Cook clarified the school had no connection to the billboard.

"This billboard was not placed by Texas A&M University, and it is certainly not reflective of how we have handled our transition into the SEC," Cook said in a statement. "We are investigating aggressively, as we believe that our institutional trademarks have been infringed upon. Texas A&M has tremendous respect for the University of Florida, and we look forward to hosting the Gators in our first SEC football game this weekend."

The billboard, which belongs to Clear Channel Outdoor, was later removed and replaced with an advertisement for the owner.

Whomever was responsible has a pretty good sense of humor considering A&M has a long history with NCAA with major violations dating back to the tenures of Jackie Sherill and R.C. Slocum.

And while the school is a quality institution, it doesn't stack up with Vanderbilt, which ranks No. 17 in the U.S. News and World Report rankings of national universities.

Where does Texas A&M finish? Tied for No. 58 with ... Florida.
